3 reviews of Kentucky Mine Museum My husband and I really enjoyed our visit to the Kentucky Mine Museum! Admission was just $1 and there are so many relics and historic items from the gold rush. You can walk around and see the actual mine building, the mine cars and huge tools from when the mine was in existence -- and there's also a big picnic area.
Buildings included a 30-stamp mill, assay office, barn and corrals, union hall, store and post office, infirmary, stage station and homes. Many of the buildings still remain. Some of the residents are interred in the cemetery below the town. The Berlin Mine was worked from an incline shaft with eight levels.

Randsburg boasted a 100-stamp mill and conservative estimates are that $60,000,000 in gold was taken out of the mines in the area during the town's boom years. In the dead of winter, at nearly 9,000 feet elevation and likely with 20 feet of snow, they immediately began rebuilding the mill.
Oct 10, 2018 A 23-day blizzard in 1884 inundated the town with 25 feet of snow, leaving residents to create a system of tunnels to maneuver between buildings. When mining was on a downswing in the 1890s, many moved away. In 1904 the Gold Prince Mill gave mining in the area a second chance, but when the mill closed in 1910 the town was soon after abandoned.
Venezia was a mill town for surrounding mines. There was a 20 stamp mill, a store, stage stop, saloon, and more. Heavily dedged Starlight Creek separated the town's buildings, which stood southeast of the mill and across the creek. At its peak in 1925, the village supported only about 75 residents.
